What is bikeTV?
bikeTV
is a half-hour television show produced by a rag-tag team of
bicycling enthusiasts.
Where can I see bikeTV?
If you live in Manhattan, and have cable, you can see bikeTV on MNN -
Manhattan Neighborhood Network - cable access. If you live in Brooklyn, and have cable, you can see bikeTV on BCAT - Brooklyn Cable
Access Television. We also now air in Philadelphia on channel 54, in
San Francisco on channel 29 and Hudson County, NJ on channel 19. See
next question or the sidebar for details...

check back time to time since it's possible our times and dates may
change every three months.
When are you going to air in some of the other boroughs? Counties?
States?
After a year of starts and stops, we finally got the show on in Queens
(thanks Pat Mullen!) We used to be on in the Bronx but our
sponsor there moved away. We get emails all the time asking if
we will air in Nassau, Westchester, New Jersey, etc. and we wish we
could. But the reality is: someone who lives in those areas
needs to fill out the paperwork and become a sponsor on your local
cable access system, we cannot do it ourselves. Once we get a slot, we
can talk about sending you tapes, though that is a burden that is
becoming increasingly expensive. In any event, email us and
let's talk.
What if I have a home computer? Can I watch?
Yes! Go to the MNN web site at www.mnn.org
for details on how to watch their live web cast via a home computer
from anywhere in America. You will need the Real Player or Real
One Player installed in order to view it. If you need it, it's
available for free from the Real
Networks website.
What's on bikeTV?
Every story has a cycling element to it. We cover anything
and everything related to bikes. While most of our stories are
NYC-based, bikeTV has been known to go "on vacation" and
report on cycling in other places, from Block Island, RI to Portland,
OR. We also profile unique cyclists and events and try to
sprinkle in bits of comedy wherever possible in segments like
"The Amazing Bike Haiku Bros." Check out our show
listing to get an idea of our recent segments.
Will I like bikeTV even if I don't ride a bike?
Even if you can't stand bikes, we predict you will love bikeTV.
The show is all about the human element of riding bikes, and the
outdoor alfresco experience that comes with it.
Who's in the rag-tag team? Can I join?
Visit the crew page to read up on us and our goofy bios.
If you want to contribute, drop us an e-mail
and let's talk! Video experience is great, but not necessarily
required. If you have a completed piece or worthy footage you've
shot while bicycling or at a bicycling event let us know.
I'm absolutely dying to see the show. I don't have a computer
or a television or cable. Can I get a tape?
Sometimes. From time to time, we run off copies of the show in
our spare time. Any $$$ we get in exchange we use to buy DV
tapes so we can keep on filming. By late Spring 2003, we are
planning on putting together a "Best of BikeTV" one hour
program which we will make available.
How do I get bikeTV to cover my bike thingy?
E-mail us - and give us a
decent amount of notice. We're interested in events, racing, unique
bike stories, unique cyclists... if you can relate it to bikes, we'll
consider it.
I have a bicycling question that has nothing to do with bikeTV.
Will you answer it?
Send it. We'll be glad to try. Our volunteers are all involved
heartily in the nucleus of the bicycling world. But our link
resources can best serve you.
I love bikeTV! Can I help?
Yes! We need contributions to help defray the cost of tapes
especially. You can also sponsor bikeTV - we'll list you on the show
and the Web site to show our thanks. bikeTV thanks our current
sponsors (Adam White, Esq. Thanks for sponsoring our post cards!).
Again, e-mail us for more
info.
**Just a note - your e-mail is fair game for publication on this site unless you say otherwise.
